Pure Wool Tie in The Rob Roy Tartan
In 1994 Gordon Covell, who owns the Islay Woollen Mill on the island of Islay, was asked to weave a tartan for a new film starring Liam Neeson and Jessica Lange.
That film was called "Rob Roy".
The tartan is based on the blue of the Scottish saltire and the chestnut brown represents the colours of a highland hillside. These garments have been woven in the traditional manner in the oldest woollen mill in Scotland on the island of Islay.
