I bought four baseball caps with The Flower of Scotland motif. I gave them to my four grandsons. When we attended the Longs Peak Scottish Irish Highland Festival at Estes Park, Colorado, they proudly wore them.
Over the period of two days, this event draws thousands of people. One of my grandsons told me, "Gee, thanks grandmother! I couldn't walk anyplace without someone asking me where I got my hat!" Another grandson's comment was, "Thanks grandmother. I met a lot of girls who came up to ask about my hat. I intend to keep in touch with three of them." A third grandson said, "Yeah grandmother. You really did it. I am tired of people telling me that I look darling in my hat with my red hair and green eyes," and the last grandson just rolled his eyes. The four of them took full advantage of their unique headgear--they paraded arm-in-arm around the fairgrounds singing,"Oh Flower of Scotland." Altogether, they each experienced many social interactions based on their headgear. I only wish that we had printed cards with the purchase information on it for them to pass out!
